Wolfgang Meyerling was a gardener who worked for Grand Duke Franz at Schloss Weizdgerbak outside Scôz. In 1923 he accused the Grand Duchess Isabella of infidelity. When the Grand Duke tried to fire him, Meyerling went to the biggest newspaper in Scôz: the Scôz Blatt. The Grand Duke then tried to stop the paper from printing the story, but they answered with even more articles about the affair . Meyerling became famous, and the Grand Duke had to make an official (and humiliating) apology. This was the last time that any Grand Duke of Scôz tried to control the Free Press in Scôz am Rhein. |
